Antique JAS HENNESSY & Co. Cognac Brandy Liquor Bottle, Early 20th Century, Sweet Valley Wine Co, Sandusky, Ohio
$155.00
Antique JAS HENNESSY & Co. Cognac Brandy Liquor Bottle
This bottle is a fascinating piece of pre-Prohibition American liquor history. "A.S. Hennessy & Co. Cognac Brandy" was a proprietary brand name used by The Sweet Valley Wine Co. of Sandusky, Ohio, likely bottled between the late 1890s and 1919. The bottle does have a wire cork.
Because of Prohibition, the Sweet Valley Wine Co. had to cease commercial liquor and wine operations around 1919–1920. This makes the bottle is, most likely, a pre-Prohibition antique that is well over 100 years old.
Based in Sandusky, Ohio, the Sweet Valley Wine Co. was a highly prominent player in the Lake Erie wine district during the late 19th and early 20th centuries
